Reducing the friction of organizing padel games
Greater Padel is a mobile-first booking platform for padel players to discover nearby courts, choose available time slots, pay ahead, and manage sessions from one place.
The product also introduces lightweight social utility through matches, coaching add-ons, and tournament discovery.
The Problem
Playing padel often requires more coordination than it should.
A player may want to play after work, move into a new neighborhood, or simply prefer not to organize games socially. In many cases, the challenge is not motivation — it is access.
Players often run into fragmented workflows:
- Calling venues to check availability
- sending WhatsApp messages for confirmation
- unclear or outdated time slots
- disconnected payment steps
- not knowing who to play with
- no simple way to join matches nearby
The result is that finding a court, finding players, and securing a game become separate problems. That friction happens before the first serve.
Objective
Design a mobile experience that enables users to:
- discover available courts nearby
- select date and time quickly
- pay upfront
- receive immediate confirmation
- manage bookings without venue-side coordination
Onboarding
Not every player wants the same experience.
A beginner may want easier matches and nearby casual sessions. A more experienced player may care more about competitive games, stronger opponents, and preferred court conditions.
Capturing these preferences early helps reduce irrelevant options, improves match quality, and makes the first experience feel more useful immediately.
The Process
Before designing screens, I focused on understanding the challenges players face when trying to play padel regularly.
The problem extended beyond court reservations. Players often struggle with:
- finding available courts
- finding players of a similar skill level
- joining matches in a new area
- managing bookings across different channels
- coordinating games through calls and messaging apps
This revealed that the real problem wasn’t simply booking a court—it was organizing a complete padel experience.
Structuring the Experience
After identifying the core journey, I organized the product into four key areas:
Court Booking
Helping users find available courts, select time slots, and reserve sessions quickly.
Match Discovery
Allowing users to join existing games or create new ones.
Player Connections
Helping players find partners and opponents based on skill level and location.
Competition
Introducing leaderboards and rankings to encourage retention and long-term engagement.
My role
I owned:
- product structure
- user flow
- information
- architecture
- interaction patterns
- mobile UI design
- booking flow design
- social feature exploration

Slot booking flow
Open app → choose location → find available court or match → select date and time → book and pay → receive confirmation → show up and play.
Matches and community
The app extends beyond transactional booking.
Users can:
- join matches
- host matches
- discover tournaments
This introduces retention loops beyond one-off bookings.
